To put a sweet note on the scariest night of the year, then look no further than these spooky zombie brain Halloween cupcakes! With a rich chocolate base topped with a light and fluffy buttercream, you can’t go wrong!
What do I need to make Zombie Brain Halloween Cupcakes?
These Halloween cupcakes are an easy, spooky cupcake decoration idea that your kids will love! All you need is:
Baked chocolate cupcakes (boxed cake mix is fine)
Green buttercream frosting (recipe here) Add green food color until you get desired color
Light Corn syrup
Red and green food coloring
How to I make the Zombie Brain Halloween Cupcakes?
If you make homemade cupcakes, bake them and allow them to cool completely before frosting them. Fill them a little less than 2/3 full so that they bake with flat tops.
Make your green buttercream frosting. Add the green food coloring until you reach your desired color for the brain frosting on the cupcakes.
Use a Wilton 7 round tip and piping bag (or a ziplock bag with a corner cut) to pipe the brain frosting on the top of each cupcake, starting with a line down the middle.
In a random squiggle motion, pipe on each side. A second layer may be needed to fill in the spaces. Repeat the same squiggle motion with the colored corn syrup in a piping bag or ziplock bag with a small corner cut.
