Learn to create flavorful Greek feta meatballs that combine turkey, feta, and fresh herbs for an exquisite dish.

Some recipes immediately remind me of my time in culinary school—the kind where a handful of simple ingredients turn into something incredibly vibrant and flavorful. These Greek feta turkey meatballs with lemon are one of those dishes. They’re bright, juicy, and packed with Mediterranean flavor thanks to fresh herbs, warm spices, salty feta, and a squeeze of fresh lemon.

During my culinary school training, one lesson we practiced constantly was how acidity balances richness. In dishes with cheese or meat, adding something bright like lemon can completely transform the final flavor. That’s exactly what happens here. The lemon juice lifts the spices and feta, creating meatballs that feel fresh, light, and perfectly balanced.

Even better, these meatballs can be cooked in a skillet or in the air fryer, making them perfect for both weeknight dinners and casual entertaining.

Why We Love This Greek Meatball Recipe

These meatballs are a favorite in my kitchen for several reasons.

First, they’re packed with flavor yet incredibly easy to make. Everything goes into one bowl, and the cooking process takes less than 15 minutes.

Second, they’re extremely versatile. I love serving them:

  • in warm pita with tzatziki
  • over lemon rice or orzo
  • alongside a cucumber tomato salad
  • on a Mediterranean appetizer board

And finally, they’re perfect for entertaining and meal prep.  They’re the perfect easy recipe for your weeknights!

Ground Turkey

Turkey keeps the meatballs light and lean while allowing the spices and feta to shine.  You could also use ground chicken.

Onion

Grated onion melts into the meat mixture as it cooks, adding moisture and sweetness so the meatballs stay tender.

Garlic

Garlic provides a deep savory base that supports the Mediterranean spices.

Parsley

Fresh parsley adds brightness and a fresh herbal flavor that lightens the dish.

Fresh Dill

Fresh dill adds bright, herbaceous flavor that complements the lemon, feta, and Mediterranean spices in the Greek feta meatballs. It brings freshness to the dish and enhances the classic Greek flavor profile often found in dishes like tzatziki and mezze.

Cumin

Cumin adds warm, earthy depth that gives these meatballs their Greek-inspired flavor.

Coriander

Coriander adds a subtle citrus note that pairs beautifully with the lemon.

Smoked Paprika

A touch of smoked paprika brings gentle smokiness and color.

Salt and Pepper

Salt enhances all the flavors in the dish while pepper adds mild heat.

Oregano

Oregano is one of the defining herbs in Greek cooking and adds those unmistakable Mediterranean flavors

Feta Cheese

Feta adds salty, creamy bursts of flavor that melt slightly into the meatballs as they cook.

Lemon Wedges

Serving with lemon wedges allows guests to add an extra squeeze of lemon juice, which adds brightness right before eating, making the flavors pop even more.

Olive Oil

Olive oil adds richness and helps the meatballs brown beautifully while cooking.

How to Make Greek Turkey Feta Meatballs

Step 1: Mix the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl combine the meatball ingredients:

  • ground turkey
  • grated onion
  • garlic
  • parsley
  • cumin
  • coriander
  • smoked paprika
  • salt
  • pepper
  • oregano
  • feta
  • dill
  • lemon juice

Then mix gently until everything is just combined. Be careful not to overmix, which can result in tough meatballs.

Step 2: Shape the Meatballs

Next, roll the mixture into 1½-inch meatballs, yielding about 14–16 meatballs.  You could use a small cookie scoop to keep the meatballs uniform.

Air Fryer Instructions

Air frying is one of my favorite ways to cook these because it creates a golden exterior while keeping the inside juicy.

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  2. Lightly spray or brush the basket with olive oil.
  3. Arrange the meatballs in a single layer.
  4. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  5. The meatballs should reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
