A lemony twist on the classic smash cocktail, this Strawberry Lemonade Smash is a fizzy, light, and refreshing cocktail perfect for summer sipping!
Strawberries at the market recently have a gorgeous deep, shiny red color, and the perfect plumpness. Every time I go grocery shopping, I can’t help but pick up a pint or two. Today I’m partnering with Social Lite Vodka to make a summer cocktail you’ll be craving all year long! This Strawberry Lemonade Smash has just the right amount of sweetness and a little bit of bubbly to make it your go-to drink on those hot summer days!
Pre-Covid, one of my favorite things to do was to entertain at home. My wife and I like to come up with a signature cocktail for our guests to give our gatherings that extra special touch. We keep things fresh and simple and the drinks are always a hit! I love to muddle fresh herbs and fruit in my cocktails, especially during summer! Those ripe strawberries and mint paired perfectly with a new hard seltzer I discovered: Field Strawberry SoCIAL LITE Vodka Soda!
What is Social Lite Vodka Soda?
Since 2013, SoCIAL LITE Vodka Soda has been hand-crafting their vodka sodas. They are naturally refreshing and guilt-free, delivering a crisp, clean taste without the need to use any artificial sugar or sweeteners. They’re gluten-free, and only 80 calories! They come in a variety of flavors, all equally delicious! Their Field Strawberry flavor was calling my name when I stepped into the grocery store, so I couldn’t resist grabbing a few! You can find their store locator here!
What is a smash cocktail?
A smash cocktail’s definition is a loose one. There must be a few things:
- A spirit
- A sweetener
- An herb
- Seasonal fruit
Mint is a classic herb choice, and goes so well with strawberry! SoCIAL LITE Vodka Sodas allow me to make this strawberry lemonade smash so easily, so it’s perfect for entertaining!
To make this strawberry lemonade smash, chop up a couple of strawberries and gather some mint leaves. Muddle the two in a glass and top with ice using a muddler. Muddling helps to release the flavors of the fresh ingredients so that they bind better with the spirit in your cocktail. If you don’t have a muddler, the end of a thick wooden spoon would work. I actually used a melon baller because it had enough of a surface area to create that same smashing action and it worked just fine! Get creative! If nothing else works, Amazon also has some really inexpensive muddlers if you want to add it to your kitchen arsenal.
