Description

Savor the flavors of a mixed berry crisp, featuring fresh or frozen berries and a golden crumble that is simply irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries — fresh or frozen)

  • 3 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

Topping:

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar or coconut sugar

  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamom (or cinnamon for a more classic feel)

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1/2 cup butter or coconut oil

Optional:

  • Zest of 1 lemon (in the filling or topping)

  • A scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or dollop of Greek yogurt for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.

  2. Mix the filling: In a bowl, gently toss berries with maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, cornstarch, vanilla, and salt. Pour into the prepared dish.

  3. Make the topping: In another bowl, mix oats, almond flour, almonds, brown sugar, cardamom, and salt. Stir in the melted butter until it forms a crumbly texture.

  4. Assemble and bake: Sprinkle the topping evenly over the berries. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the berries are bubbling and the topping is golden and crisp.

  5. Cool slightly and serve warm with your favorite topping.
