Grilled Peaches with Mascarpone Cream

Grilled Peaches with Mascarpone Cream is the perfect way to enjoy your favorite summer fruit! This dessert is simply delicious!

I can’t get enough of the summer stone fruits this year. A giant box of the ripest and juiciest peaches I’ve ever tasted was just delivered to my doorstep and I’ve haven’t stopped eating them since!

When are peaches in season?

Summertime in United States means warmer temperatures and sunny days, and it also means that it’s peach season! This stone fruit grows from May is until late September, and peach season is at its peak in July and August! Stone fruits get their name from the seed or “stone” in their center that is surrounded by their outer flesh. Stone fruits usually have thin skins that can be fuzzy or smooth.

Depending on where you live will also affect the peak readiness of peaches at those local farmers markets. In Illinois where I live, peak peach season lasts from June until September.

Do peaches have to be ripe to grill?

Now, if you go to your local supermarket and can only find rock hard peaches, don’t worry! Most fruits are picked before they’re completely ripened so they’re easier to transport. Fortunately, when you put those peaches on the grill, the heat intensifies the natural sugars in peaches — or any underripe fruit for that matter — as well as softens the flesh as it cooks. In the end, you’ll get a slightly caramelized, and soft peach! Perfection!

Grilling fruit is a great way to bring out the natural sweetness and caramelize fruit just perfectly. From these peaches to pineapple, or even watermelon, grilling fruit in the summer is a great way to bring a delicious flavor to fruits. The quick cooking over live flames brings out their natural juiciness and intensifies their deep summer sweetness.

How do you cut a peach?

Similar to the avocado, you cut a peach by running a knife around the circumference and then twist open around the pit. Using a sharp knife, follow the natural seam with the knife and cut the peach through to the pit all the way around. Using both hands, twist the peach open to reveal the pit located on one side of the peach. You may pull the pit out with your hands, or you can use a melon baller to remove it.

How do you make grilled peaches?

  • Preheat the gas grill to medium-high heat on half the grill and low heat on the other half of the grill.
  • Brush the cut sides of the peaches with oil.
  • Place peaches on the grill, cut side down over direct heat until the fruit has developed grill marks, and started to soften about 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Brush the tops of the peaches with oil, turn over and move to the indirect heat side of the grill to continue cooking, another 4 to 5 minutes.

Grilled Peaches with Mascarpone Cream

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 tsp vanilla bean sugar

1/4 tsp cinnamon

Pinch of cloves

Pinch of allspice

2 peaches, halved and pitted

Mascarpone cream:

1/4 cup greek yogurt

1/4 cup mascarpone cheese

1 tsp honey

1 tsp sugar

1/4 tsp cinnamon

pinch nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla


Instructions

Mix together vanilla bean sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice in a bowl and set aside.

Make the mascarpone cream by combining greek yogurt, vanilla, mascarpone cheese, honey, cinnamon and sugar in a bowl and stir to combine. 

Preheat the gas grill to medium-high heat on half the grill and low heat on the other half of the grill.

Brush the cut sides of the peaches with oil.

Place peaches on the grill, cut side down over direct heat until the fruit has developed grill marks, and started to soften about 4 to 5 minutes.

Brush the tops of the peaches with oil, turn over and move to the indirect heat side of the grill to continue cooking, another 4 to 5 minutes.

Serve peaches with a spoonful of mascarpone cream and a sprinkle of the spice mix.
