Description

This Caramelized Onion Dip is the BEST appetizer for any party or game day! It’s the perfect dip to serve with chips or veggies!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large onions (yellow or sweet onions)
  • 6 ounces room temperature cream cheese
  • 6 ounces sour cream
  • 6 ounces mayo
  • 1 clove fresh garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chives, chopped

Instructions

Step 1. Slice onions into 1/4-inch strips.

Step 2. Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet or cast iron skillet over medium heat.

Step 3. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes so they can start to sweat. Then turn the heat to medium-low and stir in ½ teaspoon salt.

Step 4. Cook for 30 minutes, stirring every 2-3 minutes. If the onions ever get too dry, you can add a splash of water at a time to rehydrate and help caramelize. The onions should be a rich brown color when they’re done.

Step 5. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely. This can be done the night before and stored in the fridge.

Step 6. Combine sour cream, room temperature cream cheese, mayonnaise, caramelized onions, minced garlic, chives, salt and pepper in a food processor.

Step 7. Pulse until desired consistency is reached.
