Bourbon Peach Lemonade Granita

June 1, 2020 (Last updated July 2, 2023) · Nicole Triebe

This bourbon peach lemonade granita is great served as a dessert or a cocktail on a hot day, no blender needed! Say hello to your new adult frozen treat!

Summer is almost here, and I’m craving all the frozen treats! Long hard days of parenting a 7-month-old usually call for a cocktail or two after 5 pm, so today I’m combining the two with this bourbon peach lemonade granita!

What is granita?

Granita is a frozen fruit dessert made from fresh fruit and water, blended and frozen until icy, flaked with a fork, and frozen again. It’s slightly different than a sorbet in that the texture of a granita is coarse rather than silky smooth. It’s like shaved ice you used to eat as a kid, but instead of flavoring the ice with artificial syrups, we’re using real fruit and a little bourbon! It is so refreshing, and the perfect way for the adults to cool down on those hot summer days!

How do you make bourbon peach lemonade granita?

This bourbon peach lemonade granita may be the easiest dessert you’ll ever make! All you need is a few ingredients, a blender, and a freezer! You don’t need a fancy ice cream maker to make this boozy frozen treat!

First, chop up 3 peaches. Peaches are in season from May until September, so these juicy beauties were the perfect choice for this dessert. You can make granita with most fruits, though! Tell me what your favorite is below!

Next, place the peaches in a saucepan with water and sugar. Bring the water to a boil and let it simmer for 7 minutes, or until the peaches are soft. Remove from the heat and let cool.

Blend until smooth. Put the cooked peaches and liquid in a blender and blend until smooth. Strain out any skins and add lemon juice, water, and bourbon.

Freeze and flake. Put the mixture in a shallow freezer-safe dish and freeze for 6 to 8 hours. Flake with a fork or spoon and freeze again.
